Amilia Alternative for Canadian Camps and Studios

Thinking of moving off Amilia? How Canadian camps and studios compare alternatives, export their data, and switch registration software between seasons.

October 12, 20268 min read

Amilia is an established platform used by many recreation organizations. If you have decided to move, here is how to do it without losing your families’ information.

Know what a good fit looks like first

Before you compare features, write down what actually matters to you. For most independent operators it comes down to a few things:

  • A registration flow a parent can finish on a phone, in one sitting
  • Payments that go to a Stripe account in your name, then to your bank
  • Pricing that fits the size of your program
  • Support you can reach by email while registration is open

Export your data while the account is live

Export your families and participants from Amilia as a spreadsheet before you cancel anything. Keep the full export as your archive and bring across only what next season depends on.

Check where the money lands

With Campix, each location connects its own Stripe account. Payments go to that account, and Stripe pays each one out to your bank 14 days after it is made, in a daily payout. Set up your fees on the new programs, and your provincial tax and sibling discount in Settings, so prices match the day you switch.

A season-safe switch checklist

  • Export families, participants and programs from Amilia
  • Import participants and programs on the Import screen, then check a few rows
  • Set up sessions, prices, and taxes
  • Connect Stripe per location and run one test payment
  • Recreate your waivers and consent forms
  • Open registration for next season on your new link and send families a short heads-up
  • Keep your final Amilia export as an archive

If you run a day camp

With Campix, families register several children for several weeks on your link, without creating an account, and pay for every child in one payment. Set a weekly price, a sibling discount and an early-bird price, and turn on the waitlist so a spot that opens up goes to the next family.

If you run a camp in Quebec, our guide to choosing day camp software in Quebec covers RL-24 slips, French and where your data is stored.

Common questions

Do parents need an account to register?

No. Parents register and pay through your link without creating an account. To come back later, they open the family portal and enter a code sent to their email.

Can I bring my families over from Amilia?

Yes. Export your families and participants from Amilia as a spreadsheet, then load them on the Import screen. Campix checks every row and shows how many will be added, skipped or need fixing before anything is saved.

What do families get for RL-24 and tax time?

A payment receipt for each paid registration, downloaded from the family portal. It shows the child, the amount and the dates. Prepare RL-24 slips from those amounts with your accountant.

Is Campix available in French?

Yes. The registration page, the family portal, the emails families receive and the staff screens are in English and French.
