Switching from Jackrabbit to Campix: A Migration Guide
What Canadian camps and studios should know before moving off Jackrabbit: data export, family migration, payouts, and a season-safe switch checklist.
Jackrabbit is a capable, established platform. If you have decided to switch, a clean export and a little sequencing let you move between seasons with every family’s details intact. Here is how.
Decide what actually has to come across
You rarely need your entire history in the new system. Focus on what next season depends on:
- Participants, with guardian contacts, dates of birth, allergies, medical notes and authorized pickups
- Your programs, with dates, times, fees and capacity
Registrations and balances do not import. Families register again through your new link, and you settle old balances in your current system. Closed seasons and old financial detail can stay in your export files.
Export first, map second
Export your families, students and classes from your current system while your account is still active, before you cancel anything. On the Import page, upload the file as CSV or Excel. Campix suggests a match for each column and shows a preview before anything is saved.
Know where the money lands
Payments are the part worth checking closely. With Campix, each location connects its own Stripe account, so payments go to that account and Stripe pays out to your bank. If you run several locations, confirm each one is connected to its own account before you take a live payment. Set the same fees on the new programs, and the same tax rate and sibling discount in Settings, so prices match on day one.
A season-safe switch checklist
- Export families, students and classes from your current system
- Import participants and programs, and check the preview against a sample
- Set prices on each program (and add-ons, on the Team plan and up), and your tax rate and sibling discount in Settings
- Connect Stripe per location and run one test payment
- Recreate your waivers and consent forms
- Send a short heads-up to families with the new registration link
- Keep your export files for at least one season as a backup
Time it for your off-season
The calm window between sessions, when no registration is open, is the right time to switch. You get to set everything up, test a real booking, and train your team before families ever see the new flow. Switching mid-season is possible, but the off-season is far less stressful.
Getting help with the move
Most of the work is the export and the column matching, and the Import page handles the matching. The Network plan includes a founder-led onboarding session that covers the import and Stripe setup. Check your plan’s participant and program limits before you import. If you are weighing the move, our guide on choosing camp management software in Canada covers what to compare first.
