Stripe Payouts and Fees for Camps, Explained
How Stripe payouts and fees work for camps and studios: when money reaches your account, what the fees are, and why per-location accounts matter.
When a family pays for registration, the money does not appear in your bank instantly, and a few fees come off along the way. Here is how payouts and fees work when your camp takes payments through Stripe, and why it matters that the money is yours, not a vendor’s.
Where the money goes
With a connected Stripe account, a family’s payment lands in your own Stripe balance, then pays out to your bank on the schedule shown in your Stripe dashboard. The funds are in a Stripe account in your own name, and you see every payment and payout there. If you run several locations, each connects its own account so each site’s money goes to its own bank.
The fees, in plain terms
- A card processing fee on each payment, charged by Stripe
- A Campix platform fee on the registration amount: 2% on Solo, 1.5% on Team, 1% on Multi-site, 0.5% on Network. It is not charged on tax.
For each location, choose whether families pay the card processing fee at checkout or you absorb it from your payout. When families pay it, it shows as its own line before they pay.
When the money arrives
A Stripe account you connect through Campix pays out each payment 14 days after it is made, in a daily payout. Your first payout can also wait while Stripe verifies the business. Card payments can work before verification clears, but payouts wait until it does. In its first 3 days, a new account can collect 10 online payments. Email support@campix.io to raise the limit. When you refund a payment in Stripe, the registration updates and the family gets a refund email. Check Stripe’s pricing page for how fees are handled on a refund.
Reading a payout
A payout is a batch of payments minus fees and any refunds, deposited together. To reconcile, match each payout against the payments in your Stripe dashboard.
